Esther Arrives in Shipston

After 6 years in Chipping Norton Benefice as the church youth worker our family moved to Moreton-in-Marsh in March last year. We have two sons Tobiah, 3, and Elias, 1 ½, who keep us on our toes and bring us so much joy.

After a year away from work I began to feel that I wanted to be back serving young people. We waited and applied for various jobs; however no doors were opened. Then after what some would say a ‘chance’ [I would say a ‘God intervention’] I met someone at a youth event. I spoke to them about my heart for youth, my desire to serve and to make Jesus known… she took my details and I thought nothing more about it.

A few months later a letter arrived in the post – it had been sent by ‘Churches Together in Shipston Project’. It was so strange but I knew right away that there was something about this letter that was captivating my heart. It informed me about a job that would involve working in the local secondary school as well as across the churches in Shipston. The role would include equipping and enabling the churches to work with young people in their community — this was exciting!

I met with the church ministers to discuss the role and learn more about what they hoped the project would look like. I began to see their hearts and their vision for young people in Shipston; it was really encouraging to see WP_20151016_14_44_34_Prochurches working together and united in wanting to make Jesus known to young people.

This was where God wanted me to serve!

I have been employed now for a few months and have enjoyed meeting various people involved in the project. The school have been very welcoming and I started working there in September. Over the summer I continued to build relationships with the Shipston churches and its members.

Over the coming months please pray for this work and how God will use us as a family to serve in the town. We are excited about this new adventure and know there will be times when it is tough, but God is faithful and his plans are
good for those that love him, and we certainly do!
